Dateline: Crawley, UK, 16 April 2014. “Delighted, happy, humbled and over the moon.” These were just some of the comments from Scorpio Worldwide sales and marketing director Richard Kennedy immediately after learning that Scorpio had won the award for “Supplier of the Year” for the third consecutive year in the DFNI Global Awards for Travel-Retail Excellence 2014. The awards were presented at the DFNI Gemstones & Jewels Charity Ball, held at the Lancaster Hotel London on Friday 11 April 2014.
The purpose of the awards is to recognise the finest retailing practice in the global travel-retail market and every year DFNI invites the worldwide travel-retail industry to select the companies setting the highest standards in their fields – at airports, in the air, on land and on board ferries and cruise ships. Votes are cast by the industry, for the industry worldwide, making the poll a true reflection of global trade opinion.
Voters are asked to nominate three companies in each category, ranking them first, second and third and points are allocated accordingly. The company with the highest score in each category wins the award.
Commenting further, Richard Kennedy said, “Each time we have been successful in winning an award it gives everyone at Scorpio Worldwide a great sense of pride and achievement. When we thank all those who have voted for us it is meant genuinely and sincerely as it means a lot to us all. Thank you so much for voting for us again this time. To think we have won the DFNI Global Award for “Supplier of the Year” for the past three consecutive years is an incredible result, especially when considering we’re nominated with such international and respected companies such as Estée Lauder Travel Retail and Proctor & Gamble. Added to this, we have also won “Supplier of the Year” in both the Airline Retail Conference Asia and Rest of World Awards for the last three years, so it’s a truly remarkable achievement and thanks must go to each and every one of our employees. For the moment we will all enjoy the success, but knowing that we must continue to maintain and improve our services.”
